Volkswagen Jetta Radiators

PushToTalk

Volkswagen Jetta radiators are no piece of cake to replace. While the price of a new replacement radiator can be discounted heavily at online auto parts stores they are still labor intensive to install. Most radiator malfunctions are due to poor maintenance and car accidents. Car wrecks are not as avoidable as one would like but radiator problems due to poor maintenance are entirely avoidable.

Doing some regular maintenance on your radiator can keep troubles at bay. It is a good rule of thumb to replace a used radiator every 5 - 6 years to avoid problems. Most people however, will just change the radiator when there is a need for it. Leaking water and coolant is one obvious sign that the radiator needs replacing. Other signs like overheating and low water pressure are signs that you have trouble and it will continue to get worse until the problem are fixed.

Check the thermostat when signs of trouble start. Thermostats are fragile and can often be the culprit when overheating problems arise. Changing the automatically every two years takes care of that. Check the belts and hoses as well. Make sure there are no worn spots or rips. When holes are present they cause water loss and low pressure which contributes to engine failure further down the line. Inspect the rubber under the radiator cap periodically. Make sure that there isn't any deteriorated rubber. That will also loosen the seal on the radiator and cause water loss. Using a radiator flush regularly will also cut the chances of overheating and water loss. Flushing out the radiator every time you change the fluid in the radiator rinses out all trash that can accumulate inside the radiator. Change the fluids once a year replacing old water and anti-freeze with fresh.
