Thermostats are delicate and can damage easily. Changing it every two years heads off any troubles before they can happen. Keep a watchful eye on all belts and hoses. They can give tell-tale signs of impending doom. Keep an eye out for droplets of water on the radiator and any signs of rust. Use a radiator flush regularly, at least once a year. A radiator flush will allow your radiator to free all the flakes of rust, dirt and debris that may be floating around inside.
