AMC Javelin Radiators

In October, we asked our customers, like you, to write us with their AMC Javelin stories. The following is a piece written by Tony from Connecticut:I recently bought a '73 AMC Javelin, outfitted by Pierre Cardin, an absolutely gorgeous piece of machinery. I convinced this guy to sell it to me for practically nothing. I couldn't believe he went for it. This guy actually sold it to me for a little under $700. It didn't have any air conditioning and it needed some bodywork, but it was such a beautiful car I had to have it. One thing that it needed was a new radiator, an AMC Javelin Radiator. I had no idea how to replace a car radiator for this type of car. I mean, the '73 AMC Javelin, Pierre Cardin was a specialty automobile; I thought it would cost me an arm and a leg to find an AMC radiator. I went everywhere in search of Javelin radiators and I found overpriced radiators surrounded by mechanics who didn't understand my Javelin at all. I got this car in the '80s which was about the same time that they started putting plastic radiator repair into use. I did some research and the concept of the plastic radiator was a good one, I needed to figure out how to replace a car radiator of this kind. I come to find out that my Javelin radiator is a vintage; some would call it an antique. I learned that at this point, radiator recoring comes into play. Lucky for me Outlaw Radiator had the autoparts necessary to rebuild, (recore) my AMC Javelin radiator. Now my AMC Javelin is truly an "antique."
